Hi friends – here’s a song called “Yoko.” A few years ago, I called some musician friends and we made this recording of it. The performance we captured feels like a dream to me, and that’s what the story sounds like, too. So I decided to share it with you again. I think about the people in the lyrics almost every day, even though I never met them. So here they are in a song. Hope you enjoy it. Peace, DW
New Year’s Eve always makes life feel fresh and full of possibilities. What do you hope for in the coming year? Available to stream and download everywhere now, and listen on YouTube!
When I was growing up in Minnesota, the approach of the holidays was always gradual and exciting. The first snow would be the beginning of winter, but maybe even more important for a kid in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, it was the beginning of the countdown to Christmas, Hanukkah, and the New Year. It was like a 3 month long Advent calendar – a crescendo of lights going up, shop windows being decorated, presents being made, trees coming home from the farms. The more Christmassy it got, the more excited my siblings and I got. Here’s a new Christmas song, Christmassy. Available now for stream and download, and listen on YouTube!
“The Best Gift”
Underlying the Christmas story, and sometimes amidst the holiday hoopla, the themes of redemption and forgiveness still resonate. This is a song about personal forgiveness in that context of universal forgiveness. Available now for stream and download!
“The Hottest Christmas Eve Ever”
There’s nothing quite like a midwestern Christmas, outsmarting the winter by cozying up by the fire. Available now for steam and download!
“Are You Lonely Tonight, Mrs. Claus?”
She may not be featured in a lot of Christmas songs, but Mrs. Claus is one of the holiday’s unsung heroes. I wrote this song with The Tropicals. Available now for stream and download!
I’ve written a bunch of holiday songs over time and starting today I’ll be sharing my five faves – including A NEW ONE! Excited for you to hear them!
