I wrote “Missing Person” with The Webb Sisters in my hotel in London a few nights after they accompanied me spontaneously and quite amazingly during my set at Bush Hall.

The final installment of “Songs From The Ballroom”
For the final installment of this year’s “Songs From the Ballroom” series I’m sending you exclusive alternate versions of two songs that will be on my new album, to be released in the spring. This album has given me the chance to make my own personal and intimate musical statement after several years of crazy, fun and sometimes very beautiful collaborations. I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve done.
Meanwhile, the latest pair of free songs are: the original demo of “Your Brighter Days” and a live-in-the-living-room version of my current single, “Disappearing”. Anyone can receive these tracks for free for the next couple of weeks by joining my emailing list (Please see the link at lower left to sign up).
I really hope you enjoy them and that you’ve dug the Songs From the Ballroom series. It’s been really gratifying for me unearthing these songs and sharing them with you.
P.S. Thanks to all who have purchased my new single “Disappearing” on 7-inch vinyl. To purchase the “Disappearing” single on iTunes click here: “Disappearing” – iTunes Also, if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, I’ve created a hand-drawn lyric video for “Disappearing”. I’ve returned recently to my long practice of pen-and-ink drawing. I used to emulate and idolize Edward Gorey and R. Crumb, and I still do. Drawing is a little like meditation – you can happily lose yourself in it. What a natural combination of things I do! Why didn’t I think of this before? I hope you dig it: “Disappearing” [Official Lyric Video]

“Disappearing” feels like the perfect introduction to my upcoming album. After these past years of intensive collaboration, I wanted to hear what the music in my own head sounded like. So I went into hiding for several months and emerged with the most lonesome and personal-sounding music that I’ve made in a long time. I can’t wait for you to hear the full record, which will be released in the spring.
